From Dropout to Agribusiness Leader: Justine’s Story

When financial hardship forced Asinyo Justine to leave school in 2012, her future seemed uncertain. She turned to farming to survive, working tirelessly in her fields but often feeling limited by a lack of knowledge and opportunities.

Everything began to change when Justine became a Farmer Support Agent through the FIRST+II program with Opportunity International. She joined the intensive Good Agricultural Practices training of trainers, and for the first time, she saw farming not just to get by, but as a real business.

“It has opened my mind,” she said. “Now I know how to document my costs, do proper analysis, and help other farmers do the same.”

With new skills in agronomy, record-keeping, and advisory support, Justine is charting a path toward her dream of becoming an agro-input supplier and farming consultant. She is no longer just farming for herself; she is empowering others to make their farms more productive and profitable.

Her story is a reminder that with the proper training and support, even those who once felt left behind can rise to become leaders and changemakers in their communities.
